Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has provided an injury update on Joe Lolley.

The Reds defeated Hull 2-1 at the City Ground yesterday with Lewis Grabban and Brennan Johnson scoring the goals.

Lolley was a notable absence on the team sheet once more though having been missing for a few weeks.

The 29-year-old was starting to get back into his stride recently but now his progress has been stalled once again.

Cooper was quizzed on the trickster after the game and he offered some promise with his comments.

The head coach told Nottinghamshire Live: “Joe is having a bit of a frustrating time.

“He was back in training, then he had another knock which has just forced him out for a few days.

“Hopefully, we’ll see him next week.”

Lolley checked in at Forest from Huddersfield in January 2018.

He quickly became a fan favourite at the club with a string of match-winning performances.

In the last 12 months though his form has taken a bit of a nosedive.

His game is no longer about rasping long-range efforts but more about sheer hard work and determination.

This season he has registered just a single assist and he’ll be hoping to get back on the pitch soon.

Lolley will relish Forest challenge

In his absence, Philip Zinckernagel and Brennan Johnson have both been excellent.

That means that Lolley will have to work tirelessly to get his place back in the team.

He will be up for that challenge though and will fancy his chances of being part of a winning team once again.

Lolley is a decent player still on his day and can still do a job for Cooper.

With Alex Mighten limping off yesterday, the head coach will hope to have Lolley back sooner rather than later.

Whether Lolley can maintain a place in the side remains to be seen.
