Nottingham Forest wanted Sheyi Ojo in the past and Millwall boss Gary Rowett has been summing up his time at the New Den this season.

Ojo has been wanted by Forest a couple of times in the past but he’s ultimately alluded the Reds.

Last season he was on loan with Cardiff and this season he opted for a similar temporary spell with Millwall.

Ojo has made 15 appearances for the Lions during 2021/22, scoring once and registering two assists.

It would seem as though Rowett knows that the Liverpool man can play but is wanting to see a bit more from him.

He told News at Den: “Sheyi is a player with such great potential. I’m sure that I’m probably sitting here like Liverpool just wanting to see a tiny bit more consistency.

“He’s a really good lad, he fits well into the group and works incredibly hard.

“The next step for Sheyi is that consistency of delivering performances. He’s capable of it, he’s a very, very talented player.

“It will be down to him to a certain degree how far he goes in the game.”

Ojo will remain with Rowett’s squad for the 2021/22 campaign and he will have a year left on his contract at Liverpool in the summer.

Will Forest return for Ojo?

Having been interested on a few occasions it does seem as though he’s firmly on the radar.

These comments from Rowett perhaps suggest that he needs to find more consistency though and that could put Forest off.

Ojo is a versatile forward and perhaps Forest will be targeting a player to bolster their attacking ranks in the coming transfer windows.

The 24-year-old looks like one that the Reds might be better off avoiding now.

He’s had plenty of loan clubs in the Championship with limited success and Forest are perhaps better off looking elsewhere in the future.
