David Johnson has sent a defiant message to Premier League clubs circling Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson.
The Daily Mail has claimed today that Tottenham, Newcastle, Everton and West Ham are all wanting the 20-year-old.
Forest have used Johnson in every game of the 2021/22 campaign and his valuation has soared to £20 million.
Johnson scored his fifth goal of the season during a 2-1 win over Hull on Saturday. He also has four assists to his name since returning to the City Ground.
Tottenham are perhaps the most interesting potential suitor, with Antonio Conte hunting down a Champions League spot next season.
West Ham are also a club on the up, with Newcastle and Everton at the other end of the Premier League table.
Forest are eyeing a tilt at the play-offs and losing players in January would seriously damage those ambitions.
As a result, the hope will be that the latest reports are nothing more than idle gossip from the press.
Johnson has scored five goals and claimed four assists during the 2021/22 season and is one of the first names on Steve Cooper’s team sheet.
What has Johnson’s dad said about his son leaving Forest?
Firstly it should be noted that Johnson’s comments must be taken with a small pinch of salt.
Of course, it’s not his father’s decision whether or not he is sold but that of the football club.
That hasn’t stopped him from providing a four-word update that is sure to drive supporters wild this evening.
Johnson has been a regular at games as he goes home and away to support his son in action for a team he holds close to his heart.
Clearly, his dad feels that his development might be best served at Forest for now and hopefully, he will remain a Forest player at the end of January.
