Nottingham Forest are set to face intense competition in their quest to keep hold of Brennan Johnson.

Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham are all interested in the player’s signature, as per the Daily Mail.

Brentford were keen in the summer and saw three bids rejected. West Ham are also thought to be in the mix.

Tottenham are the latest club to have watched Johnson in action for Forest. The forward scored his fifth goal of the campaign at the weekend, firing home the winner against Hull.

Johnson has started all but one of the 23 league games played by Forest this season and has been an integral part of the good form under Steve Cooper.

As a result, he will be desperate not to lose Johnson in January, with the Reds now eyeing a place in the play-offs at the end of the campaign.

Last season, Johnson spent time on loan with Lincoln. There he scored 13 goals and claimed 14 assists as the Imps were beaten in the League One play-off final.

The 20-year-old can operate as a number 10 or on one of the flanks and is proving a very versatile performer.

What have Newcastle fans said about Forest star Johnson?

It’s fair to say it’s met with some division. Plenty aren’t keen and have bad memories of signing Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles.

Newcastle could do a lot worse though and perhaps some of their fans would be wise to cast their eyes to the league table.

Johnson has been quality this season. That would make him an ideal signing for many top-flight clubs, especially those towards the foot of the division.

Still, Newcastle fans are often a picky bunch and it seems some wouldn’t be keen on signing Johnson at this moment in time.

Others would, however, and we’ve had a look at what the Magpies faithful have been saying on Twitter.
