Nottingham Forest are set to face intense competition in their quest to keep hold of Brennan Johnson.

Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham are all interested in the player’s signature, as per the Daily Mail.

Brentford were keen in the summer and saw three bids rejected. West Ham are also thought to be in the mix.

Tottenham are the latest club to have watched Johnson in action for Forest. The forward scored his fifth goal of the campaign at the weekend, firing home the winner against Hull.

Forest now value their player at £20 million, with the academy graduate playing in every game of the 2021/22 campaign.

Johnson has started all but one of the 23 league games played by Forest this season and has been an integral part of the revival under Steve Cooper.

As a result, he will be desperate not to lose Johnson in January, with the Reds now eyeing a place in the play-offs at the end of the campaign.

Last season, Johnson spent time on loan with Lincoln. There he scored 13 goals and claimed 14 assists as the Imps were beaten in the League One play-off final.

The 20-year-old can operate as a number 10 or on one of the flanks and is proving a very versatile performer.

What have Forest fans said about Johnson interest?

It’s fair to say that plenty are resigned to losing him at some point, but they hope the club gets the very best deal.

Johnson is a bright, young talent. With that in mind, he can’t be sold for any less than the £20 million currently being brandished out.

Johnson has been quality this season. Handing him a new contract to preserve his valuation would be the ideal situation for Forest.

That would allow him to continue shining under Cooper, with the option to reassess his future during the summer.

Losing Johnson in January could prove seriously detrimental to Forest and given this morning’s news, Forest fans have been reacting on Twitter.

Here is what they’ve had to say.
