Nottingham Forest are keen to sign a striker in January and a player Dane Murphy has signed before could solve that particular conundrum.
Orlando City have confirmed that Daryl Dike is available either on loan or in a permanent deal when the window opens next month.
Barnsley added the powerful hitman to their ranks last January. He scored nine goals in 22 games and fired the Tykes to the play-offs against the odds.
Dike proved a real surprise package during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign. As a result, several English clubs are vying for his signature.
The Athletic claim that Crystal Palace, Leeds and West Brom are all in the mix to sign him.
Murphy knows what it takes to sign Dike though and he could hold the aces when it comes to bringing him back to England.
It’s been no secret that Forest want a younger striker. Dike ticks that box and he wouldn’t need much time to get up to speed either.
The MLS season hasn’t been finished long and during the 2021 campaign, he scored 10 times in 18 appearances for Orlando.
It’s uncertain at this stage what he’d be valued at, but as a loan signing, he could prove just the tonic for Forest’s promotion push.
Talent: Murphy can help Forest gatecrash top six with Dike signing
Although things are going well, Forest are probably an injury to Lewis Grabban away from disaster. Lyle Taylor is a workhorse but he’s seemingly incapable of scoring goals on a regular basis.
As a result, a younger striker would be ideal and Dike could be absolutely perfect for Forest.
He perhaps offers something different to both Grabban and Taylor, with his bulldozer-like tendencies making him a nightmare for defenders.

Signing a striker could be make or break for Forest in terms of their ambitions this season.
Dike is a proven Championship performer and given his age he could be a City Ground star for many years to come.
