Middlesbrough v Nottingham Forest: What’s the story?

Chris Wilder might have fancied being in the Forest dugout earlier this season but today he’s the man plotting their downfall.

The ex-Sheffield United boss was linked with the Reds position when Chris Hughton was sacked in September.

Ultimately, Dane Murphy chose Cooper and the rest, as they say, is history.

Now, Wilder is in place at Middlesbrough after replacing Neil Warnock earlier this season.

He has overseen some good form and his team are unbeaten in their last four outings.

Last weekend, they defeated Bournemouth and like Forest, they will fancy a charge towards the play-offs.

The Reds travel to the Riverside Stadium looking to win for the fourth game in succession.

Forest have lost just once since Cooper left and are without an away defeat since August when Hughton’s team lost at Stoke.

Broadcast details

It’s an impromptu date on the television for Forest.

Hull v Blackburn was called off two hours before kick-off so Sky Sports will now show Forest as the main game.

BBC Radio Nottingham will be broadcasting live radio commentary on 103.8 as per usual.

Fan reaction to Forest team picked to play Middlesbrough

It was always going to be something of a patched-up team today.

Djed Spence is ineligible to play against his parent club, whilst Jordi Osei-Tutu and Alex Mighten miss out through injury.

Still, plenty of supporters now trust Cooper to get things right and the spirits remain high ahead of this one.
