James Garner sends defiant Nottingham Forest plea to Manchester United

Nottingham Forest midfielder James Garner has sent a resounding message to new Manchester United head coach Ralf Rangnick.

The Reds performer has been discussing his future amid a clause in his contract that allows United to recall him.

He had a similar loophole in his loan deal at Watford during 2020/21. Last year that was activated and the player linked up with Forest instead for the second half of the campaign.

Garner, 20, has started playing exceptionally well over the last six weeks.

His second stint at Forest didn’t start in quite as emphatic style as his first spell but nonetheless, he’s won his critics over.

The talented United maestro has suggested that he’s keen to stick with Forest until the end of the campaign.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Last season, I was moving place, moving clubs, moving locations; you’ve got to move everything and start over again, get used to a new team.

“I think it will help to have a full year at one club. Getting used to things over and over again at different clubs can be quite tough.

“I was more than settled her last season. Coming back, I already knew all the boys, so that made it easy.

“The changes at United I’ve put to one side at the moment. I’m here at Forest and I’m here to do a job.”

Starlet: Garner thriving at Forest under Cooper

It’s hardly surprising that Cooper is getting the very best out of Garner at Forest.

He wanted to sign the player ahead of the Reds, whilst he was still the head coach at Swansea City.

Garner built up a rapport with Forest fans last season though and was only ever keen to sign for the Trentsiders again.

He’s proved a big player in recent weeks and with regular game time he’s kicked on once again.

Garner will hope to continue improving between now and the end of the season and Forest will hope he can keep shining in the team.
