Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Bournemouth defender Steve Cook – and are ‘increasingly confident’ of securing him.
The Nottingham Post claim that Forest are trying hard to get Cook signed up just hours into the January transfer window.
Queens Park Rangers are fighting for Cook’s signature too, but it looks like Forest think they can get a deal done.
This could be a coup for Forest given that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is keen to sign Cook according to The Sun.
Cook, 30, currently serves as Bournemouth captain and has more than 350 appearances to his name with the Cherries.
A wily, experienced centre back with great leadership ability, Cook could be a great influence on the likes of Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna.
Cook has only played three Championship this games this season, suffering from the performances of Gary Cahill and Lloyd Kelly.
That means Forest have a real chance to swoop in and take Cook to the City Ground in a shock move.
Howe talked up Cook’s leadership and mentality at Bournemouth, with that kind of influence potentially appealing to Cooper.
With Keinan Davis on his way in from Villa, Cook looks likely to become Forest’s second January signing.
