Nottingham Forest dumped Arsenal out of the FA Cup once again on Sunday evening. Lewis Grabban scored the only goal of the game as the Reds set up a fourth-round date with Leicester City.
It was a superb performance from Steve Cooper’s men. After the game, supporters took to Twitter to rave about the display by newcomer Steve Cook who made his debut.
The 30-year-old arrived from Bournemouth earlier in the transfer window. He made his first appearance for the Reds against Arsenal and despite a tough assignment he did well.
Cook lined up in the middle of a three-man defence. Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna kept their places in the team and all three looked in fine form against the Gunners.
This was a tremendous performance by the Reds. Arsenal had no answer to a supremely organised second-half performance by Forest and Cook was part of the brilliance.
It seems as though the Reds have hit the jackpot with the central defender. He was inspired at the hear of a back three and on a free transfer, he already looks like a solid signing.
What have Forest fans said about Cook?
Some fans did have reservations when he was added to the ranks. After his display against Arsenal, however, it seems as though they’re happy to trust the club’s instincts.
Cook will get better with the more football he plays. He had only made three appearances for Bournemouth this season, hence a willingness to move to the City Ground and play football.
Already Forest look to have themselves a seriously good defender. His experience could be telling in the coming months and his leadership skills could price massive.
Here is what the fan base had to say about Cook as Forest defeated Arsenal in the FA Cup.
