James Garner was instrumental as Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal on Sunday. The midfielder has grown under Steve Cooper’s management and after the game, he received some praise from his teammates on Instagram.

The Manchester United man has come of age at Forest. He joined in August for a second spell with the City Ground-based club. During his latest loan, he has made 22 appearances.

Garner scored four goals during 20 outings for Forest last season. His performances helped Chris Hughton’s team avoid relegation to League One amid some woeful form.

Garner came up against Albert Sambi Lokonga and Charlie Patino on Sunday. Alongside Ryan Yates, the 20-year-old helped Forest come out on top of an intriguing midfield battle.

Forest fans, and Cooper, will hope that Garner’s strong form can continue. Indeed, if it does, the Reds could gatecrash the top-six this season.

Manchester United have high hopes for the youngster. They’ll be delighted that he’s getting regular opportunities at Forest and he could earn a chance at Old Trafford next season.

What teammates of Garner said about the Forest star?

Both United and Forest players have taken to Instagram to laud the youngster. He was brilliant against Arsenal and Garner has posted a rare message on social media.

Anthony Elanga came off the bench for United last night. He responded with a two-word message and also included three flame emojis.

Philip Zinckernagel and Djed Spence also replied with one and three-word messages respectively. Clearly, he’s a respected member of the dressing room and Forest will hope his good form continues.
