Nottingham Forest have sent scouts to watch Colchester United midfielder Brendan Wiredu, according to The Telegraph. The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to several clubs in the Championship, with Forest the latest suitors to emerge.
Wiredu has made 24 appearances during 2021/22. He has scored one goal and claimed four assists throughout the campaign, with his performances catching the eye.
The player signed for Colchester in February 2021. He checked in after leaving Charlton and his displays at the Weston Homes Community Stadium have been impressive.

Forest have monitored his progress, with the club going to watch him in action this season. Wiredu will have just a year remaining on his current deal at the end of the current season.
The Reds could find themselves in need of a midfielder during the summer.
James Garner will return to Manchester United, Jack Colback isn’t getting any younger and Cafu has been out of favour during 2021/22.
Forest do have Braian Ojeda and Tyrese Fornah but both players are relatively untested when it comes to Championship football.
Wiredu would also be a signing for the future. With that in mind, it represents a clear change in stratedy that Steve Cooper and Dane Murphy are wanting to implement at the Forest.
Exciting: Wiredu could be decent Forest signing
This is another talented player being linked with Forest and that certainly bodes well. It’s a far cry from the days when the Reds used to stockpile their team with random overseas imports.

- TARGET: Forest linked player set for Championship move
Wiredu is learning his trade in the EFL. He’s been a standout for Colchester this season and it looks as though he will move on during the summer.
Forest wil face competition for his signature. Several second-tier clubs fancy him and they might need to move quickly.
A new central midfielder looks like a must for the summer and why not Wiredu.
