Nottingham Forest were linked with a move to sign Sheyi Ojo back in 2020. On that occasion, he signed for Cardiff instead of joining Sabri Lamouchi’s ranks and ahead of 2021/22 he signed on loan for Millwall.
That saw him line up against Forest on Saturday. His afternoon lasted just 45 minutes as he was forced off through injury; albeit an innoxious looking one.
Ojo now looks as though he is facing a prolonged period out of action. He’s snapped himself on Instagram wearing a protective boot and has a message for Liverpool and Millwall supporters.
The 24-year-old has retained Gary Rowett’s faith this season, despite a relative struggle. Consistency has eluded him and he’s managed just two assists from 16 outings for the Lions.

Now, he’s facing a period on the sidelines. He’s likely to return to Liverpool where he will undergo a period of treatment. He will have just one year remaining on his deal in the summer.
Ojo’s injury was a bizarre one. He jumped for a routine header with Ryan Yates and upon landing all of his weight went through his left shin, leaving him in agony.
Millwall now face a race against time to replace him. He’s featured regularly under Rowett and Ojo’s absence leaves them short.
What has Forest linked Ojo said about his injury?
It’s fair to say the player is on a downer. He was enjoying regular first-team football and ultimately he now faces a fight to return to fitness.
It was perhaps a bit of a sickener when Forest chose not to sign Ojo. The Reds struggled for attacking options last season and he’d have proved useful.

He scored five goals and claimed seven assists during 2020/21 and Forest would have welcomed that level of proficiency in the final third.
The summer looks to be a key time for Ojo. Liverpool would surely like to sell him and the player will simply hope he is fit enough to earn a move elsewhere.
