Nottingham Forest linked Derby County defender looks almost certain to leave Pride Park before the January transfer window closes.

According to Fussball Transfers, three Bundesliga clubs now hope to sign the right-back before next week’s transfer deadline.

Ebosele was the subject of a somewhat cheeky £500,000 bid from fierce rivals, Forest. Derby rejected the deal and are holding out for more.

Now, it seems as though the Bundesliga could be his destination, with Wolfsburg, Freiburg and Mainz 05 all thought to be keen.

At the end of 2021/22, Ebosele will be a free agent. Given the interest from Germany, however, Forest’s hopes look to be dwindling.

The versatile right-sided performer can operate as a right-back or on the right-wing and he’s growing with each game he plays.

He’s made 24 appearances for the Rams and has been a pretty popular member of Wayne Rooney’s squad this season.

During 2021/22, he’s made 20 outings, scoring once and registering two assists.

On Saturday, Ebosele lined up in a more advanced goal against Forest. Things didn’t go according to plan though and he was substituted on the hour after touching the ball just 12 times.

Talent: Will Forest return for Ebosele?

It has to be said that right now it seems unlikely. Derby want more money and it does perhaps seem as though, the Reds aren’t really keen to push the boat out.

Also, the three Bundesliga teams all provide intriguing options. Not least, because the trio have proud histories of nurturing talented young players.

Derby appear to be edging closer to a takeover. With that in mind, they may try and hang on to their prized assets until the very final seconds of the transfer window.

Forest will have other irons in the fire and perhaps their race for Ebosele is run.
