Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is set to sign for a new club on loan, Reds head coach Steve Cooper confirmed after last night’s game. Taylor was left out of the squad for last night’s win and now looks set for Birmingham City on loan.

The 31-year-old has found regular game time hard to come by this season. He has scored just three goals for the team and will now head out in search of regular first-team football.

Taylor has started eight times in the Championship this season. Otherwise, he’s been getting minutes from the bench and as a result, his consistency has struggled.

Forest signed Keinan Davis earlier this month. With that in mind, Cooper will likely feel that his squad is well-stocked in attack, with Lewis Grabban also on 13 goals for the season.

Watford Hiring Roy Hodgson Is A Joke.

Following last night’s game, Cooper confirmed that Taylor will be heading out, although he had time to praise the striker.

Now, the challenge for Taylor will be to play some games more frequently and hopefully for him, he can score a few goals.

Reaction: What have Forest fans said about Taylor exit

It seems that plenty of supporters feel that this is the best situation for all parties. The striker is way down the pecking order and at 31, he needs to play games.

The Reds have added Davis to their ranks. With Grabban also firing on all cylinders it does seem unwise to keep Taylor kicking his heels in reserve.

Cooper has had time to assess his squad now. Clearly, he doesn’t see Taylor featuring much between now and the end of the campaign

Following Cooper’s update on the striker last night, supporters took to Twitter to discuss a pending Forest exit for Taylor.
