Nottingham Forest have seen a bid rejected for West Ham talent Emmanuel Longelo, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Reds are keen to add the left-back to their ranks prior to the transfer window slamming shut on Monday evening.

Longelo was subject of a £400,000 bid from Forest but it’s now claimed that the Hammers want to recoup around £1 million for their youngster.

The 21-year-old made a Europa League appearance for West Ham earlier this season. Boss David Moyes gave him a run out in the final group game against Dinamo Zagreb.

Longelo has been a regular for the under-23s. He’s made 13 appearances and helped himself to three assists from a left-sided wing-back role.

His ability to get forward would benefit a Steve Cooper team. The head coach likes his full-backs to possess the energy to get up and down the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

Longelo is an all-action performer. Plenty of West Ham fans hope he will stay at the club and he does have a contract until 2023 at the London Stadium.

Forest have Max Lowe as their current left-back. He is only on loan though and the Reds will need to add one in the summer.

Future: Forest signing Longelo would be eye-catching addition

This is the type of signing that Reds followers will be thankful for. A young, hungry player who has come through at a Premier League academy and one who Forest can nurture ahead of his best years.

Longelo is clearly rated highly at West Ham. He’s played for the first team this season and Moyes must see something in him.

Forest will go on the lookout for another left-back. Lowe would be welcomed permanently but whether he’s obtainable remains to be seen.

If he’s not, West Ham man Longelo could prove perfect for Forest.
