Nottingham Forest should demand Leeds duo if they seek deal for £20m-rated star

Leeds United are thought to have made a dossier on Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson ahead of a summer move.

The Whites are in the mix with Brentford, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton to land Johnson when the summer transfer window opens.

That doesn’t bode well for Forest and selling Johnson could be on the cards in the six months; especially if the Reds cant reach the Premier League or get him to sign a new deal.

In Leeds’ case, they may have a couple of players who could be of interest to Forest.

Recently, the Reds have been linked with loan deals for Cody Drameh and Sam Greenwood.

Leeds Live claimed earlier this month that Forest scouts had been in the stands to watch the duo as they searched for new recruits.

Drameh has since joined Cardiff on loan but that doesn’t mean he isn’t on the radar of Forest ahead of future windows.

When the summer comes around, Forest might be in a position to demand both players as part of any deal for Johnson.

The 20-year-old has been excellent this season, scoring seven goals and claiming six assists during his maiden Championship campaign.

If Forest can win promotion, they’ll fancy keeping Johnson. If they don’t, contingency plans will need to be made.

Johnson’s contract leaves Forest vulnerable. As a result, the Reds would be wise to get their ducks in a row ahead of the summer.

Forest must seek Leeds duo as part of any deal for Johnson

The Reds have shown great ambition this window by refusing to bow down to the demand of Premier League clubs.

Brentford thought they had a deal, but Forest have stood firm. Leeds, on the other hand, are perhaps prepared to wait until the summer.

Given his contract situation, Johnson’s valuation my drop in the summer.

With that in mind, asking Leeds for a couple of their young guns might be a smart move by Forest.

Greenwood, 20, in particular, could prove a very good addition. He’s scored eight goals in 18 appearances for the under-23 ranks this season and looks tailor-made for Championship football.

Ideally, Forest will keep hold of Johnson for several years to come.

In reality, his contract situation leaves Forest in a bit of struggle and they have to prepare for every eventuality.

If Leeds do pick up the phone, Forest must ask for both Greenwood and Drameh as part of any deal.
