Harry Arter is in talks with a club in the United Arab Emirates to seal a move away from Nottingham Forest, according to Football Insider.

The 32-year-old spent the first half of 2021/22 on loan at Charlton Athletic. It didn’t go well and Johnnie Jackson chose to send the midfielder back to Forest.

His future at the City Ground is bleak. There is absolutely no chance of him forcing his way into Steve Cooper’s reckoning, especially with the team doing so well.

Arter signed for Forest ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. Having helped Fulham win promotion during the season previous, the signing looked like a positive one.

Ultimately, it never worked out that way. Arter looked way past his best from the off and clearly didn’t fancy rolling up his sleeves when Chris Hughton chose to play him out of position.

If Arter completes a move to the UAE before tomorrow’s deadline he will do so having made just 14 appearances in the Garibaldi.

The player’s time at Charlton was riddled with inconsistencies too. Nigel Adkins didn’t really take to him and Jackson chose to send him back after just seven first-team appearances.

Now, the player looks set to wave goodbye to Forest; and his £38,000-a-week contract at the City Ground.

Massive: Getting Arter out of Forest would be huge for Dane Murphy

If Forest’s CEO can get this deal sorted, supporters might be forgiven for believing that Murphy can walk on the River Trent! Given his wage and the fact, there has been a shortage of suitors getting him off the books would be nothing shy of miraculous.

Arter has been truly shocking for Forest. He’s looked way off the pace, disinterested and ultimately has proved a huge waste of money from a Reds perspective.

The club’s business has been good this month. Keinan Davis, Steve Cook and Richie Laryea were added to the ranks early doors and as a result, the club’s incoming business might be done.

Getting Arter off the books would be a superb end to the window. If Forest can get that one over the line, Murphy might already be handed legendary status.
