Steve Cooper delivers Nottingham Forest verdict ahead of deadline day

Steve Cooper has provided an update on Nottingham Forest and their potential transfer business ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

The Reds saw Steve Cook and Lewis Grabban leave the field with injuries during their Sunday horror show. It was a below-par performance from the get-go and Forest won’t look back on this with too much fondness.

Forest did pull a late goal back when Keinan Davis headed home. Goals from Jordan Hugill and Isaak Davies condemned the Reds to a disappointing defeat, however.

Given that two senior players left the field with injuries, talk has now turned to whether the Reds will move for reinforcements tomorrow.

Cooper has advised that transfer deadline day could seriously go either way from a Forest perspective.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham (30/01/: 18:15): “It could be anything. We might be busy but we might be quiet. Everyone in the league wants players.

“We may do something. We’ll have to wait and see. It’s quite late on in the window and who knows. It’s difficult.”

Forest may well need to get active tomorrow. If Cook and Grabban are ruled out for a period of time, some new additions will be needed.

Worry: Forest season could unravel without additions

If Grabban is missing for a considerable period, Forest will certainly need a striker.

The Reds do have Keinan Davis but his game isn’t necessarily about scoring goals and another talisman will be sought.

Forest can’t let their season unravel on the back of a poor performance. A busy period of games is on the horizon and Cooper will want his team to be well-stocked.

Cook’s absence perhaps isn’t a major concern. The Reds have Loic Mbe Soh, Tobias Figueiredo and Rodrigo Ely waiting in the wings to earn a shirt.

Grabban has scored 13 goals this season though and his absence could be of serious detriment to Forest’s campaign.
