Nottingham Forest have seen a bid for Antoine Semenyo rejected by Bristol City on transfer deadline day, according to the Bristol Post.

The Reds are frantically trying to bolster their attacking options today. Jed Wallace and Josh Bowler have both been linked with month and bids are likely to be made.

Semenyo is valued at £20 million by the Robins. It’s not clear at this stage what Forest’s bid was or whether the Reds will return with another offer.

The 22-year-old scored on Saturday as Bristol City drew 2-2 with Preston. He’s now scored four goals and claimed six assists for Nigel Pearson’s team during 2021/22.

Forest have moved quickly to try and bolster their options in attack. The Reds saw Lewis Grabban hobble off yesterday and he requires a scan on an injured ankle.

Semenyo has taken some time to get going but his form of late has been brilliant. He scored twice earlier this month as the Robins were thrashed 6-2 by Fulham.

At 22 he has bags of potential. He would perhaps represent a decent long-term heir to Grabban’s throne and Forest could do a lot worse.

Semenyo has also spent time on loan at Newport County during the early stages of his career.

Forest will have to move on from Semenyo

The clock is ticking and the Reds could do with another striker. It’s perhaps telling that the club have bid for another talisman and it possibly suggests the prognosis on Grabban isn’t particularly positive.

Semenyo ticks all the boxes as far as Dane Murphy is concerned. He also looks like the type of player that could thrive in Steve Cooper’s system.

Forest won’t be forking out a large sum of money though and perhaps attention will have to not turn elsewhere in the search for a new striker.
