Former Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton is set to be appointed as the new Ghana manager and Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi is ready to pledge his allegiances to the African country.
It’s a surprising story that is developing. Hughton has been out of work since being sacked by Forest back in September of last year.
The Reds boss departed after a rotten start to 2021/22. Forest picked up just one point from their opening seven games and were rock-bottom when he departed.
Now, Hughton is set to embark on a career in international management. His days at club level look numbered after his disappointing tenure at Forest and the boss could thrive with Ghana.
Clearly, Hughton has done something right in his career. He’s won promotion with three clubs, although it would perhaps seem as though certain aspects of modern management have passed him by.
The 63-year-old hasn’t officially been unveiled just yet. He has, however, set to work and Chelsea star Hudson-Odoi is onboard.
The winger has been handed some chances to shine under Thomas Tuchel this season. He has scored three goals and claimed five assists during 25 appearances for the first team.
The 21-year-old has three appearances to his name for England. As he’s not played in a competitive fixture, however, he’s allowed to switch to play for another country.
Forest fans will be intrigued by new Hughton job
Many supporters claimed that Hughton might not work in football ever again after his abysmal record at Forest. As far as club football goes they may have a point.
However, he now feels that the time is now right to make a real go of managing on the international stage.

Ghana were knocked out of the AFCON in embarrassing fashion. They failed to win a game in a group that included Comoros, Gabon and Morocco.
As a result, Hughton will be hired as the man to revive the country’s fortunes. He will hope to prove all the Forest fans who have doubted him wrong.
