Report: Nottingham Forest stunned by Josh Bowler on deadline day

Nottingham Forest were rejected by Blackpool winger Josh Bowler on transfer deadline day, according to Football Insider.

The Reds fought tooth and nail during January to try and land the 22-year-old, with several bids rejected for the youngster.

Now, it’s been claimed that the deal was struck between the two clubs on deadline day; but Bowler rejected a move to the City Ground.

Bournemouth and Fulham were both keen on signing Bowler during the transfer window.

Forest, however, showed the most intent to sign the player and did feel as though they could strike a deal on deadline day.

According to the latest reports, Forest did actually match Blackpool’s valuation. It’s claimed that it was the player who wasn’t overly struck on a move to the City Ground.

Bowler only signed for the Tangerines during the summer after being released by Everton without making a first-team appearance.

Neil Critchley subsequently picked him up and he’s been a mainstay in the Blackpool team during 2021/22.

His latest goal came in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham and he’s growing as a footballer at Bloomfield Road.

Bowler has scored three goals and claimed three assists during the current campaign and he looks set to be a wanted man in the summer.

It’s hard to know whether to believe this one or now, There were lots of different reports from lots of outlets regarding Forest and Bowler on deadline day, making it hard to sort out what is what.

Forest are likely to remain keen on the youngster. He is only 22 and he ticks a lot of boxes in the eyes of Dane Murphy and Steve Cooper.

As a result, supporters perhaps shouldn’t be worried by this report and perhaps the club will have a desire to swoop again during the summer.
