Nottingham Forest defender Djed Spence was the subject of two bids from Tottenham on transfer deadline day, according to ESPN (31/01; 14:24).
Middlesbrough will likely sell the 21-year-old during the summer. For now, however, the player will remain at Forest until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Spence has been a revelation for Forest. He checked in on loan during the summer transfer window and has been a mainstay in the Reds team this season.

It really has been quite remarkable just how good he has been. Plenty of supporters claimed he wasn’t needed but his form has alerted bigger clubs.
Arsenal were keen after seeing him help Forest knock the Gunners out of the FA Cup. Inter and Roma also provide interest from overseas.
It was Tottenham who wanted to steal a march, however. They made two bids to Boro yesterday but they stood firm and now his future will be ironed out in the summer.
Spence has made 23 appearances for Forest during 2021/22 and he’s looked the part in pretty much every game he’s played.
The future looks bright for the youngster and Forest’s hopes of keeping him are surely dwindling.
Forest fans must enjoy Spence whilst they can
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte must be seriously keen top sign Spence. He made two bids yesterday, although he would have let the youngster continue at Forest.

- DISAPPOINTING: Forest miss out on youngster
If Spence can finish his time at Forest in the same way that he’s started it, then a few other Premier League clubs might show their interest in the summer.
Even if Forest win promotion it seems unlikely they’ll get to keep Spence. The wages on offer in the top-flight will be substantial and as a result, the Reds might have to get used to life without the right-back.
