Nottingham Forest thrashed Leicester City 4-1 at the City Ground yesterday. The Reds were rampant throughout the contest and after the game, Lyle Taylor and Manchester United man Brandon Williams congratulated James Garner.
Forest left the Foxes feeling wounded with a devastating first-half display. Philip Zinckernagel, Brennan Johnson and Joe Worrall all scored in the first 45 minutes to give the Reds a famous win.
Djed Spence scored in the second half to leave the hosts reeling. The holders endured a feeble attempt at defending the crown they won last season and are the second holders to succumb to Forest in four years.
Forest were incredible. Steve Cooper’s team executed their game plan to perfection with his adopted 3-4-3 leaving Leicester to lick their wounds and relinquish their FA Cup grasp.
Garner has been incredible for a few months. Since Cooper checked in he has really grown into his midfield role, showcasing why Manchester United value him so highly.
Forest are so fortunate to have the 20-year-old. Some United supporters wouldn’t have begrudged seeing him in their midfield as they were dumped out of the cup by Middlesbrough on Friday night.
What have Taylor and Williams said to Forest star Garner?
Taylor is currently on loan away from Forest. He scored three times for the Reds this season but has two goals in as many games playing for Birmingham City.
Likewise, Williams. He’s on loan with Norwich City and like Garner, he will hope to earn a United chance during 2022/23.
Williams summed up Garner’s heroics for Forest in three words, with Taylor choosing a few more to suggest that the youngster is a serious player.
Forest will hope that Garner’s current purple patch can continue until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
