Nottingham Forest stars Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence have been named among a host of big names in the Emirates FA Cup Team of the Round. The pair netted as Forest knocked out the holders Leicester City during last weekend’s City Ground clash.

It was a tremendous occasion for the Forest faithful. After beating Arsenal in the third round, the Reds were tasked with taking on a team that produced some wonderful football on their way to lifting the trophy last season.

Forest were sensational. The Reds found themselves 3-0 up just past the half-hour mark and that devastating display of finishing left the Foxes facing an uphill battle.

Steve Cooper’s men now face Huddersfield Town in round five of the competition. That game will be played in March and the Reds might find themselves dreaming of a quarter-final date.

Forest took their FA Cup form to Blackburn on Wednesday night. They ensured it wasn’t a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show by beating the second-place side 2-0 at Ewood Park.

Luke Thomas has endured nightmares since facing Spence and Johnson last Sunday. He was given a real runaround last weekend and it highlights the brilliance of the Forest duo.

With both players in this sort of form, there is hope that Forest can finish the season on a high. Of course, there will be bumps in the road but the future certainly looks bright.

Cooper will know that the right-hand tandem is integral to Forest’s fortunes. The challenge is keeping them fit and fresh for as many games as possible between now and May.
