Celtic have sent a scout to watch Antoine Semenyo after he was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day.
According to Bristol World, the Scottish league leaders have sent representatives to run the rule over the versatile forward.
Semenyo was a target of Forest as they tried to bolster their squad ahead of the window slamming shut last month.
The Reds wanted to sign the youngsters but Bristol’s validation, unfortunately, put Forest off.
They could return in the summer though and now Steve Cooper might face stiff competition for his signature.
Celtic have toppled Rangers at the summit of the Scottish Premiership and Ange Postecoglou is on course for a dream maiden campaign in Scotland.
The 22-year-old has been a regular in the team under Nigel Pearson at Bristol City this term.
He has scored five goals and claimed six assists despite the Robins struggling to perform this term.
Forest will be back in the market for new attackers during the summer. Philip Zinckernagel will return to Watford, whilst Brennan Johnson could depart the City Ground.
Semenyo can play in a number of positions across the front three and that versatility would see him welcomed by Cooper.
Class: Semenyo would be great signing for Forest
Celtic’s interest perhaps isn’t good news for Forest. They will be able to offer Champions League football and the Reds could well still be in the Championship.
Forest must get their summer recruitment right. With Dane Murphy pulling the strings behind the scenes and Cooper doing bits in the dugout, supporters have hope.
Semenyo is quick, powerful and his ability to put defenders on the back foot would make him a useful addition to the Forest ranks.
