Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor has been busy trying to prove a point during his loan spell with Birmingham City. On Saturday he scored his third goal in four games and then received praise from Brennan Johnson and Troy Deeney.
Taylor has already scored as many goals for the Blues as he’s managed this season at Forest. In truth, however, Lee Bowyer has utilised the 31-year-old as a primary source of goals, with the Reds viewing him as a backup.
His goal on Saturday allowed Birmingham to claim a big three points. They thrashed Luton 3-0 and are now looking up as opposed to over their shoulder at the relegation zone.

Taylor hasn’t really enjoyed an amazing time of things at the City Ground. He checked in on a free transfer from Charlton but has often been viewed as an alternative to Lewis Grabban.
In total, Taylor has scored eight goals and claimed one assist for the Reds from his 61 appearances. As a result, his move to Birmingham made perfect sense to all parties.
The challenge for Taylor will be to continue scoring goals. If he does that, there is no reason why he can’t have a future under Steve Cooper next season.
What have Johnson and Deeney said about Forest man Taylor?
Forest sensation Johnson has poked fun at Taylor for his choice of footwear. He has suggested that his all-black numbers make him look like he’s wearing something from the high street store Clarks!
Taylor did reply to say that he felt those boots are clearly doing him wonders right now. His goalscoring form has been brilliant at Birmingham and long may that continue.
Deeney has heaped praise on the striker. A minor injury to the former Watford man led Bowyer to seek to sign Taylor.
He’s missed the last eight games in the Championship but is likely to become a regular source of goals once he is fit once again.
Some Forest fans might be surprised to see Taylor banging the goals in for Birmingham. Cooper hasn’t ruled out a chance for the striker in the future and he will be keen to stay on the goal trail.
