Former Nottingham Forest man Luke Freeman simply can’t catch a break and he looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

The experienced attacker moved to Millwall on deadline day from Sheffield United in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Freeman has managed just 13 minutes of a game against Fulham and now he could be out of action for the remainder of the season.

It’s been claimed that the 29-year-old missed Saturday’s win over Cardiff with a hamstring problem that looks to have curtailed his season.

The former Forest man missed a lot of last season through various fitness and injury problems and lightning looks to have struck twice.

Freeman has suffered from hamstring problems previously and his short spell at Millwall looks set to be over already.

It had proved a frustrating first half of 2021/22 for the versatile forward. He played just eight times for the Blades, starting just once.

With that in mind, a loan move made perfect sense. Millwall will still fancy an end of season crack at a top-half finish and he could have thrived under Gary Rowett.

Freeman’s rehabilitation will now begin and he will surely leave Bramall Lane in the summer.

Failure: Freeman didn’t cover himself in glory for Forest

When the forward signed for Forest it was met with excitement. He has a decent track record in the Championship and it was expected he’d be a stellar signing.

From his first outing, it was pretty evident that Freeman wasn’t fit. He admitted himself some months later that a lingering injury had stopped him from hitting top speed.

As a result, it proved a frustrating time. He scored once in 25 appearances for the club and was largely used as a backup option.

Now, Freeman is struggling again. With that in mind, the Reds were proved right not to go back in for the former QPR man during the summer.
