Nottingham Forest are closely monitoring Burton Albion defender Tom Hamer, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Reds will face competition for the player who typically operates as a right-back.

Hull tried to sign him in January and they’ll remain in the mix, whilst other EFL outfits are thought to be monitoring the situation.

Hamer is a bright prospect and at 22-years-old he fits the bill of a Forest signing quite nicely.

The youngster is firmly on the radar of the City Ground recruitment team and the Reds could swoop in the summer.

Forest will almost certainly go in for a right-back during the transfer window, with Djed Spence set to return to Middlesbrough.

Hamer has spent a lot of this season playing in a right-sided wing-back role, whilst he is also comfortable on the left.

Burton look powerless to prevent Hamer from leaving in the summer and Forest are eyeing a move to take him to the East Midlands.

The youngster is out of contract in the summer and Forest could actually land him for free.

Hull will provide stern competition and given their failed January attempts they may hold the aces.

Potential: Hamer fits the Forest profile nicely

The player will represent an unknown quantity for Forest fans. He does, however, match everything that Dane Murphy looks for in a signing.

Hamer is young and boasts bags of ability. He also looks a perfect fit for Steve Cooper, given that the youngster can play in a number of positions.

Forest won’t want to hesitate with getting their right-back sorted for next season.
