Nottingham Forest will be in the market for a right-back in the summer but Jayden Richardson is one man who could be in contention for the role.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan with Notts County and he’s showcasing just how good he can be under regular game time.
Richardson joined the Magpies at the end of last year and he’s helped Ian Burchnall’s men continue their play-off push.
Djed Spence will leave Forest in the summer and his departure back to Middlesbrough will leave the Reds with a huge void to fill.
Richie Laryea was signed from Toronto FC and Fin Back is also still at the club.
Another option could be needed though and perhaps Cooper would be wise to have a look at Richardson and how he’s performing at County.
Since checking in at Meadow Lane, Notts have been resurgent. He has played eight times for the club, scoring a single goal.
He has often been utilised in a right-sided wing-back role and the Magpies have won five of the eight games he’s played in, losing just once.
Richardson is hardworking, good at both ends of the pitch and boasts a nice turn of pace.
He’s clearly outgrown under-23 football and perhaps next season he can make a genuine impact at Forest.

At 21, the youngster still has a bit of time on his side. He is out of contract in the summer, however, and will need a new deal if he’s to stay at Forest.
Cooper would be wise to hand him a short extension. That would allow him another year or two to make a genuine fist of playing first-team football at Forest.

Richardson’s qualities going forward makes him ideal for Cooper’s way of playing and he could thrive under the boss.
It’s up to Forest to make it happen and he’s doing his chances no harm whatsoever on loan at Notts.
