It’s rare to see Lyle Taylor earning rave reviews but the Nottingham Forest owned player did just that after Saturday’s 2-2 draw for Birmingham against Stoke.

The 31-year-old made the move across the Midlands during January. Taylor had slipped down the pecking order, with Keinan Davis arriving from Aston Villa on loan to bolster the attacking ranks.

Steve Cooper had no issue with Taylor but the Forest striker was desperately craving regular first-team football and the Welshman wasn’t willing to deny him that.

Lee Bowyer managed to get the best out of the talisman during their time at Charlton. During the 2019/20 campaign, he scored 11 goals but was unable to help the Addicks retain their Championship status.

My Europa League Predictions.

Taylor has taken to life at Birmingham in emphatic style. He’s found the net three times in four games and received rave reviews during the weekend’s draw against Stoke City.

One issue during his time at Forest was his seeming incapability to lead the line on his lonesome. Bowyer looks to have addressed that though and he was named as Birmingham’s sole talisman at the weekend.

The player ratings piece from Birmingham Live gave him great praise, saying: “Almost opened the scoring in the third minute. Led the line magnificently when Blues were on top in the first quarter. Did well to set up Gardner’s goal too.”

Fans will be left stunned by Taylor since Forest departure

Some supporters have been way over the top with their criticism of Taylor. Admittedly, it’s not worked out for the striker but Forest have seemingly not really played to his strengths.

Not only that but, he’s often been considered as a backup option to Lewis Grabban during his time on Trentside, robbing him of the chance to be consistent.

Now, he’s clearly shining at Birmingham and their supporters love him already. Several clips have emerged on social media over the weekend of their fans signing his name on the concourse at Stoke.

News that Taylor led the line so well on Saturday will have probably amazed the Forest fan base. His future remains unclear for the summer and it will be interesting to see whether he has a City Ground future.
