Nottingham Forest want to tie down midfielder Ryan Yates to a new contract, according to The Sun on Sunday (27/02; page: 61).
The 24-year-old will have just a year remaining on his current deal in the summer and Forest are planning to move.
Forest boss Steve Cooper has been impressed with Yates since he came into the club and he’s largely been a mainstay in the team.
Yates has played 114 times for the club and is largely a fan favourite having risen through the academy.

The tough-tackling performer is backed to play in the Premier League by some supporters and plenty view him as being integral.
Cooper clearly echos that notion and now he’s piling pressure on the club to hand him a new deal.
Yates has been brilliant under the current head coach and he has captained the team before too.
Forest have Brennan Johnson also nearing the end of his contract and the Reds are hoping to get these players tied down.
Yates has lots of unearthed potential and clearly, Cooper feels he can tap into that.
The youngster would surely be willing to commit his future to Forest. Among the fans, it’d likely be a popular decision to hand him a new deal.
Yates deserves new Forest deal
The youngster is still a work in progress but he has probably done enough since Cooper arrived to earn a new deal.
Forest will find themselves somewhat sort in midfield when James Garner heads back to Manchester United and Yates is likely to be viewed as important.

The academy graduate works tirelessly in the engine room and clearly, that’s not gone unnoticed by his boss.
Yates will hope to improve in the next few years. As a supporter of the club; he will hope to give his best years to Forest.
