Nottingham Forest defender Djed Spence has emerged as a shock transfer target for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
According to Sky Sports, the German giants have been scouting the 21-year-old who is currently on loan at the City Ground.
Earlier this week it was claimed that Borussia Dortmund were considering a raid on the Championship, following the successful signing of Jude Bellingham.
Now, their rivals are considering an approach as they go in search of some new full-back options during the summer.
Premier League interest is rife too. Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for Spence during the summer.
The Middlesbrough man has been a standout performer on loan at Forest. He has made 28 appearances after being binned off by Neil Warnock.
That decision now looks very foolish, with Spence one of the best performing right wing-backs in the division during 2021/22.
It is thought that Boro value Spence around the £15 million mark and Forest’s chances of keeping him stand close to slim and none.
The player looks destined for a big move this summer and a bidding war looks set to take place.
It is claimed in the report that RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are other potential suitors in Germany.
After his heroics against Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup, he received praise.
Match of the Day pundit Stephen Warnock called him ‘outstanding’ for his efforts in the 1-0 win over the Gunners.
Class: High-profile Spence interest will be no surprise to Forest
What a player Spence has proved. He has been a really good performer and he’s found himself a place in the heart of every single Reds supporter.
It seems certain that Boro will cash in on Spence in the summer. Chris Wilder is unlikely to take a look at him and will instead bolster his transfer kitty.
Bayern have dominated German football for the last decade and a move there would surely excite Spence.
They have a decent history with talented youngsters and he’d fancy becoming the next gem to star at the Allianz Arena.
