Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has picked out Keinan Davis as the team’s unsung hero ahead of tomorrow’s game against Sheffield United.

The defender checked in at the City Ground at a similar time to the Aston Villa man who arrived on loan in January.

The pair have been pretty integral to Forest’s rise up the Championship table and both have proved good signings.

Cook, 30, has been a brilliant leader and he’s slotted seamlessly into the Forest back three.

The ex-Bournemouth centre-back believes that Davis is deserving of more credit though and he thinks that he’s been a brilliant addition.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: ” Keinan has been outstanding. He’s probably a bit of an unsung hero for us at the moment because he’s doing the hard work. He’s bullying the defenders and he’s connecting the play from back to front.

“With Jimmy’s goal at Blackburn, Keinan took five players out of the same – it was so unselfish.”

The 24-year-old has scored twice and claimed two assists since checking in at the City Ground in January.

He probably does deserve to have a few more goal contributions, although it hasn’t been through a lack of trying.

Cook and Davis highlight promising Forest transfer shift

Cook is a modest man but he deserves a similar amount of praise to that of Davis.

He has been brilliant in the middle of Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna and his intelligence hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Cook has been there and seen it all when it comes to the Championship and he’s also made 168 appearances in the top-flight.

The 30-year-old looks a very shrewd signing for Forest and represents a nice shift in transfer strategy from the Reds.

Davis has been good too. He’s a completely different option up front and with a few more goals he’d probably be the perfect striker for Steve Cooper’s system.
