Leeds and Southampton are eyeing a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder James Garner at the end of the season.
Manchester United rate Garner highly and next season he could be loaned out to a Premier League outfit.
Forest’s hopes of keeping him for a third stint will hinge on whether or not they win promotion during 2021/22.
Garner has been integral under Steve Cooper and the United star has really kicked on in the last couple of months.
The midfielder spent the second half of last season at the City Ground; scoring four goals in 20 appearances in the Garibaldi.
This season his game has taken on a whole new level and he’s really produced the good under Cooper.
The Reds would dearly love to keep hold of him but that looks extremely unlikely.
United will surely want to get him on loan to a Premier League outfit for next year and the 20-year-old has two after his services.
Garner was in the Reds team on Friday night as Forest drew 1-1 with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
He will also be in line for a place when the Reds take on Huddersfield in the FA Cup tomorrow night, with Liverpool awaiting the winners.
Stardom: Garner is set for the top after Forest exit
The United youngster could probably play for the Red Devils now. He’s arguably the box-to-box midfielder that Ralf Rangnick is craving in his team.
Garner has been a class act this season and his form does warrant a Premier League chance.
Leeds and Southampton both have proud histories with young talent and United would surely welcome either club taking their player.
Garner’s days at Forest do look seemingly numbered and he’s another loan player that the fans must enjoy whilst they can.
