Tottenham are the most likely club to sign Nottingham Forest standout Djed Spence during the summer, according to Goal.
The Middlesbrough right-back has been sensational for the Reds this season and will be available for around £15 million.
Tottenham aren’t the only interested party, however. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keen, with Arsenal and Liverpool showing interest domestically.
Spence has been a mainstay in the team since arriving on a season-long loan during the summer of 2021.
His arrival took some people by surprise, with some critics feeling like Forest didn’t really need another right-back.
The 21-year-old has quickly grown, however, and he’s now viewed as one of the division’s best right-backs.
Spence will likely have a choice of top clubs to choose from but it’s Spurs who are viewed as the club in pole position.
Antonio Conte will go in search of a wing-back in the summer. Emerson Royal has been pretty poor since checking in and Spence is wanted as a replacement.
The chance to play in European competition would likely appeal to Spence and in Conte, they have a world-class manager.
Spence has made 29 appearances for the Reds, scoring twice and claiming three assists.
Forest’s hopes of keeping him look highly unlikely and even promotion to the Premier League might not be enough.
Spence set for stardom after Forest exit
The Boro man has been a real standout for Forest during 2021/22. He has grown as a player and looks tailor-made for a team that plays with wing-backs.
Spence will naturally find himself at a decent-sized Premier League club next season, whilst a move to the Bundesliga isn’t out of the question either.
Signing him looks out of the question from a Forest perspective.
The challenge for Steve Cooper is to make sure the Reds land a player akin to Spence for next season.
