Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff has backed Nottingham Forest to reach the Championship play-offs during this week’s Sky Sports EFL podcast.
The Reds drew 1-1 with Sheffield United during their last Championship outfit and are currently three points off the play-offs.
Ryan Yates popped up with a 95th-minute equaliser against the Blades to deny United the chance to pull clear of their top-six rivals.
Yates was on the score-sheet last night as well, with Forest knocking Huddersfield out of the FA Cup to set up a date with Liverpool.
Andy Hinchcliffe said on the podcast a few weeks ago that he didn’t feel the Reds had enough to reach the play-offs this season.
McAnuff has made a bold prediction though regarding Forest and he thinks they will be in the top-six at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “There is a belief and a togetherness.
“The late goals they’ve scored they’ve shown that they believe they can go and get points.
“The turnaround from where they were to where they are now under Steve Cooper is unbelievable. He’s improved the players.
“I’m going go against Andy Hinchcliffe and say they will get in the play-offs.”
McAnuff could be right and it’s in Forest’s hands
Forest have all to play for with 12 Championship matches remaining this season.
The Reds still have to play Fulham, Bournemouth, QPR, Coventry, Luton and West Brom.
With that in mind, they have plenty of chances to pick up points against teams that are around them in the league table.
Forest’s bench in recent weeks has been far stronger and that could be crucial going into the closing stages.
There is still work to do but under Cooper you’d be hard pushed to bet against the Reds gatecrashing the play-offs.
