The Reds won 2-1 at the City Ground last night. Tom Lees headed Huddersfield in front but goals before half-time by Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates gave Forest the win.
Now, Steve Cooper’s team are in the last eight. The last time Forest reached this stage of any the FA Cup, Oasis were sitting pretty at number one in the UK Top 40 with ‘Don’t Look back in Anger’.
James Garner wasn’t even born when the Reds last reached any quarter-final but Hodge thinks he will be bang up for the Liverpool clash.
The former Reds midfielder seems to think Curtis Jones will likely play for Liverpool and he made quite the statement after last night’s game.
Hodge told BBC Radio Nottingham: “Curtis Jones might play but you’ve got to say that James Garner will fancy himself as being as good as him.
“Being on loan from Manchester United, he’ll be desperate to play.”
Garner will get Manchester United chance based on Forest form
He really is playing that well at the moment. Garner produced the goods once again last night, covering a lot of ground and displaying a splendid passing radar.
The 20-year-old has a massive ceiling with regards to his potential. He’s already produced the goods against Arsenal and Leicester but if he could do it against Liverpool, United would be seriously impressed.
United are in short supply when it comes to midfielders. As a result, Garner must fancy getting a fair crack of the whip next season.
In terms of facing Jones, Hodge isn’t too wrong. The Liverpool youngster hasn’t played much this season and Garner will have a strong chance of coming out on top in that battle.
