Brian Laws heaped praise on Nottingham Forest star Keinan Davis after the Reds thrashed Reading 4-0 at the City Ground.

The Forest talisman opened the scoring after just 17 seconds on Trentside and from there it was a pretty routine win for Steve Cooper’s men.

Davis scored the second two, with Ryan Yates and Sam Surridge also etching their name on the score sheet.

Forest are ticking along nicely in the Championship and after a big win, they remain firmly in the hunt for a play-off place.

Davis was outstanding and former right-back Laws believes the Reds have done well to land him.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “He was absolutely outstanding. Davis has proved a very surprise and astute signing for Forest.

“When he came in you look at his goal record and there’s a bit of uncertainty but his work rate and power has been there for all to see.”

Laws isn’t wrong. Davis has been superb since checking in and yesterday, he managed to find his scoring boots too.

The Reds were good from start to finish and Davis thoroughly deserved the standing ovation when he left the field.

Forest must move heaven and earth to land Davis

Signing the striker permanently is a complete no-brainer. He’s yet to have a bad game for Forest and his strength is such a brilliant attribute.

The Reds look a solid side at the moment and in Davis, they have a striker who is brimming with confidence.

Aston Villa look unlikely to keep him and hopefully, Forest can place themselves at the front of the queue to secure his signature.

With Lewis Grabban likely to leave, the Reds will be short of firepower and at 23, Davis could be a big player for the future.

Cooper has to act and bring Davis to Forest for the foreseeable in the summer.
