EFL pundit Jobi McAnuff has raved about Nottingham Forest star Keinan Davis after the Reds thrashed Reading 4-0 at the City Ground.

Davis scored his first of the afternoon after just 17 seconds as Forest put the Royals to the sword with a devastating display.

The on-loan Aston Villa striker has proved a revelation since checking in on Trentside during the January transfer window.

Davis has now scored four times for the Reds. Despite being a striker, however, it’s not really his goals that have caught the eye.

His hold up play is superb and his powerful style of play has given Steve Cooper’s team a different dimension in the final third.

McAnuff was quick to praise the 23-year-old whilst summing up Forest during Saturday’s contest.

He told EFL on Quest: “It’s a really smart turn and finish from Davis to open the scoring. He was fantastic.

“It was about Keinan Davis. Individual brilliance. The turn, the acceleration is brilliant. Scoring has been a bit of an issue. Now he’s adding these goals he’s a real handful. He could be a key, key performer for Forest down the stretch.”

Davis has also registered two assists for the Reds and he is clearly a man determined to prove himself on loan at Forest.

Class: Forest must move heaven and earth to sign Davis

Signing the young striker already looks like a no-brainer in the summer and it seems as though Villa could let him go.

Steven Gerrard has spoken fondly of Davis previously but it seems likely that he will look for a new striker in the summer.

That won’t be any good to Davis who will go back to being a third or fourth choice striker, sitting on the bench each week.

As a result, Forest have to act. The Reds will be active in the summer transfer market and naturally, a striker will be on the radar.

Davis is loving his time at Forest and the club has to land him on a permanent basis.
