Nottingham Forest defender Richie Laryea has experienced a difficult transition from like in the MLS to the Championship in England.
The defender is yet to make an appearance for the Reds featuring on the bench just once in the league.
Now, Toronto star Jonathan Osorio has lifted the lid on why Laryea isn’t involved at Forest and he feels a Steve Cooper decision is hampering him.
Laryea was an eye-catching signing when he checked in. The 27-year-old came on the back of a quality YouTube montage and excitement levels were high.
For whatever reason, he’s just not managed to get in the team and Osorio has been discussing his former teammate’s move.
He told The Parleh: I’ve been in touch with him a lot, seeing how it’s going. Obviously, he’s not playing so it’s tough for him, but at the same time, it was always going to be tough.
“The team was in a good way, and people are kind of making it a big thing because you don’t even see him in the line-up.
“But, if you see the line-up, the coach sees him as a wing-back and he doesn’t bring wing-backs on the bench – any.”
“It’s tough but he has to be patient. He will get his chance and he’s going to be fine.”
Forest chance is just around the corner for Laryea
With Max Lowe now injured, it shouldn’t be too long until the Canada international is getting a chance to shine.
The Reds aren’t exactly plush when it comes to wing-backs and surely, he’s edging closer to a chance in the Forest team.
- PRAISE: Forest star lauds talented gem
Laryea looks like an exciting player and his energy and burst of pace makes him ideal to replace Lowe.
It does seem as though Jack Colback will get the nod to play there tonight but it would be no surprise to see Laryea make the bench.
At 27 he’s hardly young and Cooper is going to have to utilise Laryea sooner rather than later.
