Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat QPR 3-1 at the City Ground last night and Danny Gabbidon told Sky Sports that Djed Spence did something brilliant.

The Reds roared back from Andre Gray scoring the first-half opener to produce a dominant second-half performance. Spence restored parity, with Ryan Yates and Brennan Johnson scoring to confirm a big win.

Forest are now just a point off the top six and by the time they next play in the league, they’ll have three games in hand on some clubs in the mix.

Steve Cooper’s team were largely dominant in the second half and Forest showcased just how dangerous they can be to any team in this league.

Gabbidon was on co-commentary for the contest and he lauded Spence for his moment of brilliant 10 minutes after half-time that levelled the scores.

He told Sky Sports: “This is a player right on the top of his game. It’s a ridiculous strike. Just look at that. David Marshall has absolutely no chance.”

Spence is on loan from Middlesbrough and he looks destined for a bright future in the game.

Forest won’t keep him next year but the supporters will have fond memories of him when he does head back to Boro.

Class: Spence is utterly brilliant and Forest will miss him

It’s quite remarkable just how good Spence has been in the red of Forest. He has shone beyond belief and ultimately the Reds have been fortunate to get him on loan.

The youngster is relishing every single minute he plays in this Forest team and on Wednesday night he was absolutely outstanding.

Gabbidon is right to praise the player and he looks set for big things after the 2021/22 campaign is put to bed.

His goal against QPR was a joy to behold and supporters will hope he can score a few more like that between now and the end of the season.
