As the dust settled on Nottingham Forest losing 1-0 to Liverpool in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, Joe Worrall began receiving praise. Shortly after the game, the centre-back received a message on Instagram from John Terry.
The ex-Forest loan star watched the game and was impressed with the Forest man. Steve Cooper’s men may have exited the competition but they did give Jurgen Klopp an almighty fright on Sunday evening.
Worrall was truly outstanding. Forest are lucky to have the academy graduate and he’s remained a loyal servant to the club he supported as a boy.
It does seem unlikely that Forest will be able to keep him beyond the end of 2021/22. His performances this season have been fantastic and his Liverpool showing the tip of the iceberg.
Worrall has made 170 appearances in the red of Forest. His desire to do well for the Reds’ cause has been evident in each game he’s played for the football club.
The 25-year-old is currently the Forest captain. He is filling the void left by Lewis Grabban just nicely and it’s a duty that he’s tailor-made for.
Forest will hope that Worrall can lead the Reds to promotion glory. If they can do that, the club might just be able to keep him for next season too.
Forest star Worrall and Terry are cut from the same cloth
Both Terry and Worrall are not too dissimilar. Both put their bodies on the line for their clubs and both worked so hard for the clubs they grew up supporting.
Terry played six times on loan for Forest. He was brilliant even as a youngster and now Worrall shows similar traits in his defending.
The former England man praising Worrall will have gone down a treat. He will want a piece of the Premier League action on a regular basis and will hope he’s not waiting much longer.
