Nottingham Forest star Jack Colback has heaped praise on midfield teammate Ryan Yates during an interview with Nottinghamshire Live.
Interestingly, he has dropped a suggestion that the crucial aspect of an upturn in form for Yates has been the fact that he’s learnt from his mistakes.
Yates has been a mainstay in the Forest team for a few years now. Even when his form has been patchy he’s been a regular under Chris Hughton and Steve Cooper.
Now, he’s starting to prove what all the fuss is about. Yates has been brilliant since Cooper came in and recently signed a contract extension.
Colback has recognised the quality of his teammate and believes he’s an asset to the football club.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: “He’s a top professional. It’s great for Yatesey, he’s been in great form and he loves the club.
“I’ve known Ryan a good three years now and he’s such a great lad. Everyone loves him in the dressing room.
“We’ve spoken before about how he’s progressed; as midfielders, we chat. When you first start I think it’s natural when you’re younger that you don’t want to lose the ball.
“You just take the first option. He’s really focused on being more progressive with the ball and the ball he plays.
“He’s showing that he’s full of confidence. He might make mistakes but he won’t hide. He’s a good player.”
Consistency: Yates must now strive for regular Forest form
Of late, the midfielder has been fantastic. He’s moved the ball well and helped Forest progress attacks forward.
Every now and again, however, he does have tendencies to slip back into his safe style in possession of the ball.
- TRANSFER: Forest linked player agrees transfer
Forest have done well to get Yates to sign a new contract and naturally he has a bright future for the club he calls his own.
It’s great that Colback has come out in support of his teammate and that highlights the team spirit running through the squad right now.
If Yates can find a couple of seasons of consistent form then the Premier League surely beckons in the future.
