Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has suggested to Sky Sports that he’s delighted to hear Roy Keane singing his praises.
The ITV pundit lauded Johnson for his efforts on Sunday as Forest went down 1-0 to Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final.
Johnson has scored 12 goals for Forest during 2021/22, registering six assists in the process.
He’s arguably the first name on the team sheet right now and is the subject of vast interest from several Premier League clubs.
Johnson spent last season on loan at Lincoln. He has always maintained that Forest are his club, however, and he’ll be happy with his current form.
Keane began his career in English football with Forest and Johnson has been happy to receive praise from the former midfielder.
He told Sky Sports: “I did hear a bit about the praise. It’s really nice and flattering to hear from such good players, especially ones that played for Forest when they were doing a lot better as well. It’s really, really nice to hear.”
Keane left Forest to sign for Manchester United but returned in 2018 to assist Martin O’Neill when he took over as the new manager.
Forest star Johnson should get used to praise
What a player Johnson has been this season. Very few could have predicted such a return in the way of goal contributions, despite him being highly rated.
At just 20 he’s taken the second tier by storm and now has half of the Premier League hoping to sign him during the summer.
Forest must move heaven and earth to get Johnson to sign a new contract. He will have just a year remaining in the summer and that is cause for concern.
The fact he is enjoying his football at Forest, however, does offer hope that the Reds can keep him.
