Nottingham Forest have a proud history with their academy and it seems as though six young talents have been training with the first team.
With the first team currently out of action on the international break, Steve Cooper has been getting to work on the training ground.
Brennan Johnson, Djed Spence and James Garner are on international duty and that has left the boss with some gaps.
Instead of planning alternative sessions, he’s seemingly called up six under-23 players to train with the first-team stars.
Fin Back, Riley Harbottle, Ateef Konate, Will Swan, Billy Fewster and Julian Larsson have all been spotted on the latest training video.
The club’s media team have been keen to keep the content coming and supporters typically like training ground clips.
Forest fans are like no other when it comes to the academy. Many take great pride in seeing the club nurture their own talent and plenty are knocking on the door.
All of the players called up with the exception of Larsson and Fewster have first-team appearances under their belt.
With Forest chasing promotion it remains to be seen whether or not any of the youngsters currently training with the team will be called up to Cooper’s squad.
The future looks bright at Forest
Forest’s injury problems are stacking up. With that in mind, Cooper having a look at some of the younger players makes perfect sense.
If anyone else gets injured at the back, someone like Harbottle could find himself called upon and players will need to be ready.
Forest’s under-23 ranks are in red hot form. They beat West Brom 5-0 last week and are on course for a play-off place in Premier League 2.
Each player will have hopes of making the step up to the first team though and it’s exciting to see so many in training with the senior ranks.
