Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff has backed Nottingham Forest to make the play-offs this season.
He has been discussing the race for a top-six finish during this week’s EFL podcast on Sky Sports.
McAnuff has given Forest plenty of praise this season and he feels that Steve Cooper’s team will make the end of season lottery.
Forest are firmly in the mix. The Reds have two games in hand on some of their rivals and sit three points away from sixth.
Under Cooper, the Reds have been a revelation. He’s improved every single player in the squad and confidence is sky-high within the camp.
McAnuff thinks that Forest have what it takes to throw themselves into a play-off place before the season ends.
He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “I actually can’t believe that they are not in the play-offs yet given the run they’ve had under Steve Cooper.
“With the games in hand, I really do feel that they will come through the pack and get in the play-offs.”
Forest face Blackpool on Saturday and they’ll be looking to claim a third successive win in the Championship.
Prior to facing Liverpool in the FA Cup, Forest beat play-off rivals QPR. That has set them up nicely and they’ll fancy getting a result at Bloomfield Road.
Forest fans will hope McAnuff is right
The Reds have come good at just the right time. Forest gave the whole league a seven-game headstart, claiming just one point from their first seven fixtures.
Cooper has quickly set about reviving the team and the Reds have rocketed up the Championship table.
On current form, there isn’t a team in the play-off mix that will fancy coming up against an in-form Forest side.
The challenge will be to reach the top-six and the Reds fan base will hope that McAnuff is right to back Forest.
