Nottingham Forest face Blackpool in Championship action this afternoon looking to edge closer to the top-six. The Reds are currently three points away from a play-off place and there is plenty at stake.

Blackpool have enjoyed a pretty decent season themselves and naturally, they will want to make life difficult for Forest. They will hope to have a few players back for today’s game and the Reds won’t have everything their own way.

Ahead of today’s game, we looked at how Steve Cooper could choose to line his team up for this afternoon’s early kick-off at Bloomfield Road.

The Forest rearguard

Ethan Horvath has done well since replacing Brice Samba but logistics could see the Congolese stopper return to action this afternoon.

The stopper was on duty for the USA squad in the early hours of Thursday morning and it could be a risk for Cooper to call upon the goalkeeper today.

At centre-back, there could be a rare start for Loic Mbe He could get the nod, with Cooper reverting to his 3-4-3 system.

Tobias Figueiredo and Joe Worrall will both start in their usual positions with Steve Cook and Scott McKenna injured.

The Forest engine room and wing-backs

Djed Spence made his England under-21 debut in midweek and he will keep his place. Jack Colback looks likely to play at left wing-back, with Richie Laryea also champing at the bit to play.

In midfield, James Garner and Ryan Yates are playing brilliantly together. As a result, Cooper will have no need to ring the changes and Cafu could start on the bench once again.

Leading the Forest line

Lewis Grabban is making good progress but this game could come too early for the 34-year-old. Keinan Davis should, therefore, keep his place in the team.

Joe Lolley was impressive against Liverpool and he looks to be edging towards full fitness. As a result, Cooper might hand him another start against Blackpool.

Brennan Johnson is undroppable and he will definitely start this afternoon.
