The son of Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was once again in attendance as the Reds won 4-1 away at Blackpool on Saturday. Miltiadis Marinakis watched on as Brennan Johnson scored twice, with Philip Zinckernagel and Sam Surridge also adding goals for the Reds.
Forest flexed their promotion credentials with a wonderful performance against a well-drilled Blackpool team. Neil Critchley’s team had no answer to some devastating finishing by the Reds and this was a performance of a team that could go far.
The Reds grew in confidence as the game went on. Blackpool did get a late consolation goal courtesy of Callum Connolly who had stepped off the bench for the Tangerines during the Saturday afternoon clash.
On another day, Forest might have scored even more goals. Zinckernagel should have scored in the second half but Daniel Grimshaw read him like a book at helped divert his effort wide, saving with his feet.
Forest have been knocking on the door of the top six for some time now. Saturday’s win did see them jump into the play-off places, although they dropped to seventh following the results from later in the day.
What has Marinakis said about latest Forest win?
The son of Marinakis has been an avid follower of the Reds’ fortunes this season. He was once again on hand as Forest really showcased their ability to enjoy a solid end to the campaign.
Marinakis chose five words to sum up the afternoon and then a further three with a message for everyone connected with the football club.
Clearly, the son of the Forest owner is doing something right. It’s not clear what his official responsibility is, although everyone is pulling in the same direction now.
Marinakis is clearly enjoying watching the current team and long may their recent good form continue into the business end of the campaign.
