Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has raved about Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson on this week’s edition of the Sky Sports EFL podcast.
The 20-year-old scored twice in a 4-1 win against Blackpool to edge Forest within touching distance of the Championship play-off places.
Philip Zinckernagel and Sam Surridge also scored on a quality day for the Reds who enjoyed a brilliant return from the international break.
Johnson has been in fine form throughout the 2021/22 campaign. He has now scored 14 goals and claimed seven assists for the Reds.
Last season he was on loan at Lincoln and there he fired home 13 goals and also claimed 14 assists as the Imps reached the play-off final.
After his weekend heroics, Goodman was quick to praise Johnson and he believes he could go a long way in the game.
He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “You know, in Brennan Johnson, they’ve got a potential superstar haven’t they really. His finishes against Blackpool were outstanding.
“He’s not on his own, the all-around team performance was excellent. They really look a force.”
Forest must get Johnson deal sorted out
David Johnson said during the January transfer window that he’d spoken to Evangelos Marinakis and that a deal for Johnson junior to stay at the club was being taken care of.
It might be at the end of the season now but it’s fair to say that Forest have to keep Johnson. He’s worth an absolute fortune right now and it’s vital the club retain the sell-on value.

Johnson will have a year to run on his current deal in the summer. After rejecting four offers from Brentford in January, it’s obvious interest will remain rife in the summer.
The talented performer is the future. Right now, he’s playing every week at Forest and that could tempt him into staying next season.
